REFRACTORY BOILER TUBE-WALL SYSTEMS FOR EFFICIENT ENERGY RECOVERY

The more productive and trouble free a waste to energy plant can be run, the better it is for the operator as well as for the environment. This is that which motivates the Mokesa AG specialists every day. Since the company was founded in 1977 in Basel, we have grown from a regionally active company for refractories construction to an expanding company which offers its services and innovative products in 80 cities all over Europe. Whether waste to energy plants, biomass plants, fluidised bed furnaces or all other types of high temperature kilns – Mokesys® refractory systems ensure efficient waste heat recovery in more than 180 boilers.

A SWISS SUCCESS STORY. WITH EUROPEAN DIMENSIONS.

2018 – today

  • Innovation and quality will continue to be at the centre of the company’s strategy
  • In the recent past, several innovative developments have been registered for patents
  • More developments are already in the pipeline in order to secure the future and to further strengthen our market position
  • Independence and autonomy will continue to be the foundation of our success in the future

2016 –  2017

  • For the fifth time under the slogan – Swiss Quality for High Performance – we presented our entire range of services and product portfolio at the IFAT trade fair in Munich from 30 May to 3 June 2016
  • 40 years of Mokesa – 40 years of innovative thinking and action are behind us. This was duly celebrated with our loyal customers, treasured friends, strong partners, reliable suppliers and staff, during an extraordinary evening of breathtaking entertainment and selected culinary delicacies at the Palazzo Colombino!

2014 – 2015

  • Announcement of three new patent applications for developments in the refractory sector. The new, third generation of Mokesys® products is born!
  • The Mokesys® product family can now be divided into three sections: back-cast, rear-ventilated and back-filled
  • For each of these sectors, Mokesa AG develops a new product and applies for international patents
  • Mokesys® Standard Plus (back-cast) – the Plus stands for the continuing development of the proven Mokesys® standard system
  • Mokesys® Air UHS (rear-ventilated) – diverging from the existing Mokesys® Air 2E, which is used in the boiler’s first pass; the new Mokesys® Air UHS offers permanent protection for superheater bulkheads in the second pass
  • Mokesys® Granulate (back-filled) – the scope for use of the Mokesys® tube wall protection system is increased by this innovative idea: the back-filling with refractory granulates

2010 – 2011

  • Transfer of company control from founder Andreas Kern to son Tobias Kern
  • Research and development programmes with the Technical University Dresden
  • Move to the new Mokesa premises in Birsfelden

2008 – 2009

  • Launch of the rear-ventilated tiling system Mokesys® Air 2E and application for international patent
  • First installation of Mokesys® Air 2E in Switzerland. Subsequently also in Great Britain, Finland and Germany

2007

  • A magical figure: 10’000 m² Mokesys® tiles sold in one single year
  • Product diversification into Standard / Lite / Ancor
  • ISO Certification of Mokesa AG and Mokesys AG
  • There being no sense in resting on our laurels, research and development are intensified

2000

  • For all new plants, an operating time of more than 16,000 hours (two service years), without failure, is achieved! During the following seven years, Mokesys® installations follow in more than 130 boilers in all of Europe

1997 – 1998

  • As the then available conventional refractory materials were causing lost time and warranty issues in EfW plants, Andreas Kern decides simply to develop his own and better, refractory tiling solution
  • Shortly after, an international patent application for the Mokesys® tiling system follows and first installations are made
  • At the same time, the company Mokesys® AG is founded in order to hold and administer the patents and rights. Enquiries from Switzerland and from all of Europe are on the increase. The internationalisation of the company is in full swing

1982 – 1996

  • Mokesa AG attracts attention with spectacular new developments
  • New acid proof chimney inner lining concept with ventilated rear gap
  • New tall chimney concept for cold and wet flue gases
  • New refractory brickwork design for uncooled masonry

1977

  • Mokesa AG was founded
  • Strong presence in conventional refractories installation and especially in the construction of tall chimneys
  • Mokesa AG is active in a number of industries: Heat and power stations, radiant and three pass boilers, chemical, petrochemical and reactor vessels, cement and lime kilns, aluminium and steel foundry industrial furnaces, rotary kilns and solvent incinerators as well as cremators
  • The radius of activity is initially restricted to Basel and its surroundings but is shortly expanded to cover all of Switzerland and its border regions
